Are these PET lids recyclable, compostable, or both?
Our PET lids are recyclable through standard PET streams in USA, EU, India, and most major waste-management markets. They are not compostable (PET is a thermoplastic, not bio-based). Recycled PET (rPET) versions are available on request for brands prioritizing closed-loop sustainability programmes.
Why PET instead of bagasse for lids?
Lids need crystal-clear transparency so customers can see their food (poke bowls, salads, parfaits, etc.) and so QSR staff can verify orders before handoff. Bagasse is opaque. PET is the industry-standard for transparent food lids: FDA approved, food-safe, and recyclable. Customers can also see if the lid has been tampered with, which matters for delivery.

Are PET lids microwave-safe?
No. PET softens at 70°C and is not designed for microwave heating. Customers should remove the PET lid before microwaving the bagasse container underneath. Operating temperature for PET lids is -20°C to 70°C, safe for refrigerator, freezer, and counter storage. The bagasse container itself remains microwave-safe up to 220°C.
Are these lids food-grade and FDA-compliant?
Yes. PET lids are FDA 21 CFR 177.1630 compliant for direct food contact. Material is virgin or food-grade rPET (no recycled non-food sources). BPA-free, phthalate-free, no plasticizers. Food-contact safety and migration test reports ship with every order.
What's the temperature range for PET lids?
Operating temperature: -20°C to 70°C. Safe for: refrigeration, freezer storage, ambient ambient counter display, and chilled-display salad bars. Not safe for: hot soup straight off the stove, oven heating, microwave reheating, dishwasher cycles. Customer should let hot food cool slightly before lidding to prevent condensation and keep PET below 70°C.
Are tamper-evident or snap-close versions available?
Yes. Our standard PET lids are snap-close (tight fit, holds seal during delivery transit). Tamper-evident versions with breakable rings or seal stickers are available on custom-tool orders, MOQ 500,000 pieces. Approved for major delivery platforms (UberEats, Doordash, Swiggy, Zomato) tamper-evidence requirements.
Can I get clear PET vs printed lids?
Standard SKUs are crystal-clear PET (food visibility). Custom pad-printed lids with brand logo or QR code are available at MOQ 200,000 pieces, 6 to 8 weeks lead time; printing-plate cost is shared with your quote. Many cafés print only on the rim or top center, leaving the dome clear for product visibility.
