Why buyers specify kraft
The colour is the fibre, not a finish
Kraft bagasse is the same board as our white range with one stage left out. That is the whole story, and it is worth knowing before you pay a premium for it anywhere.
- No bleaching stage
- The brown shade is the natural colour of sugarcane fibre after pulping. Nothing is added to create it and nothing is removed to lighten it. Buyers who have to answer questions about process chemistry find this the easier finish to defend.
- Reads as unprocessed on the counter
- Kraft signals a natural product without any claim being printed on the pack. Cafés, premium-casual chains and farm-to-table operators tend to specify it for that reason, while high-volume QSR often stays with white for contrast against the food.
- Embossing shows better
- A logo cut into the mould catches the light against the kraft surface more clearly than against white. For brands that want a mark without printing, this is the finish that carries it.
- Identical on performance
- Same fibre, same lines, same wall thickness, same gram weight as the white equivalent. Heat tolerance, oil resistance and stacking do not change with the finish. Anyone selling kraft as the stronger option is selling you a colour.

Finish, performance, mixing with white, and what the minimum actually means.
Is kraft bagasse actually unbleached?
Yes. The brown colour is the natural shade of the sugarcane fibre after pulping and forming. No bleaching stage is applied, and no dye or pigment is added to reach the colour. White bagasse from the same line goes through an additional whitening stage, which is the only process difference between the two finishes.
Does kraft perform the same as white bagasse?
Yes. Both finishes are formed from the same 100% sugarcane fibre on the same lines, at the same wall thickness and the same weight per piece, so heat tolerance, oil resistance, rigidity and stacking behave the same way. Kraft is a cosmetic choice, not a performance one. A detailed finish-by-finish breakdown is planned as a separate comparison.
Can I mix kraft and white clamshells in one container?
Yes. Our minimum is a full container, not a minimum per SKU, so a single 20ft or 40ft HQ load can carry any mix of kraft and white across the 6×6 to 9×9 range, and can include plates, bowls and trays on the same load. Distributors carrying both finishes usually order this way to avoid two freight bookings.
What is the minimum order for kraft clamshells?
One full container load, mixed across SKUs. We quote FOB Nhava Sheva or CIF to your port. Standard production runs 3 to 5 weeks before transit, and we return a quote within 48 hours of receiving your SKU list and destination port.
Can you emboss our logo on kraft clamshells?
Yes. Embossing is cut into the forming mould, so the mark is part of the fibre rather than a print applied on top, and it reads well against the kraft surface. Custom and private-label runs take 6 to 8 weeks including tooling. See private-label and OEM tableware for the full process.
Are kraft bagasse clamshells PFAS-free?
